We welcome Dr. Russ Martin to Mission Church of the Nazarene! Pastor Russ will be with Mission Church while we continue the search for the lead pastor position. We are very fortunate to have Dr. Martin join us as he is a 5th generation Nazarene and has pastored nearly 50 years. He is currently retired and living in San Diego with his wife LouAnn. He and LouAnn love to spend time with their 5 children and 14 grandchildren, and have been able to participate in the virtual learning process while teaching a couple of their grandchildren.
Jeff ("El Jeffe") Jimenez is our young adult & outreach pastor. He is passionate about investing in the life of college students and young adults in guiding them as they grow in knowledge, the love of God, and others. As the Outreach Pastor, his role is to help Mission Church engage our community more faithfully as the people of God in San Diego are called to love and to serve like Jesus.
Jeff is the child of Mexican immigrants, raised in "la Iglesia Latina" (Latin Church) He received a Bachelor of Arts in Ministry from the Nazarene Bible College, an Associates Degree in Music Ministry from Canzion Costa Rica and is currently completing his Masters in Christian Ministry from Point Loma Nazarene University. Jeff is married to the lovely Lauren and they have a dog name Jericho.
Pastor Evie has been with Mission Church for 2 years. Prior to Mission, she has served the Lord in Kids Ministry for nine years, while also completing theology courses. She has degree in child development from San Diego State University and her Masters degree from Wheelock College. She also teaches Child Development at Grossmont College. She is now our Mission Valley Preschool Director. When she's not with Mission Kids, she is mom to two teenage girls, Makenzie and Brooke. She enjoys spending time at the beach, visiting local coffee shops, and hanging out with friends. Her passion is leading kids to Christ through outreaches and connections within the community!
Paul has been helping people discover God's will and purpose for their lives which has been a lifelong pursuit. Paul and his wife, Aleta, have served in a multitude of ministry assignments for over 50 years.
After 30 years of pastoral ministry to local churches, Paul began a new ministry career path in healthcare chaplaincy. They moved to San Diego in 2002, where, after his clinical training, he has served as a chaplain in hospitals, hospice, and county government.
Paul's educational degrees include the following:
- BA in Theology from Pasadena College (now Point Loma Nazarene University);
- Masters in Divinity from Nazarene Theological Seminary;
- BCC (Board Certification by the Association of Professional Chaplains).
Paul has served Mission Church as an associate pastor as well as starting his own publishing company, Amazing Grace Press.
Robert Churchman is our 55+ ministry pastor and leads our Communion team. In 2019, He launched Zephyr House Church, an offshoot of Mission Church at Zephyr Affirmed Housing for formerly homeless Veterans.
Robert loves sharing the love of Jesus (Matthew 22:37-40) with everyone he meets, so they too can experience the hope we have in Christ. He has been in ministry since 2014, serving as an associate pastor at Celebrate Church for three years and here at Mission Church since 2017.
Robert and his wife, Holly, who have two adult children, have been married since 2011. They enjoy spending time with family and the outdoors such as hiking and biking. Robert also enjoys attending car shows and rodeos.
Kelly grew up in a musical family as a pastor's kid in the Nazarene church and began attending Mission Naz in 2008. Music and Ministry have always been a part of her DNA. Over the years, she has loved teaching bible studies, leading Women's events and retreats, and of course, leading people in worship. Kelly has been leading worship for over 16 years and has been on staff here at Mission since 2016. Kelly attended PLNU and was a member of the exclusive Point Loma Singers during her time there. She has taught children's choir at many Vacation Bible Schools and help start a successful female quartet. Of all the titles and roles Kelly has had, people and music have always been her passion. Her goal is to create a team of excellence to allow people an opportunity to experience Jesus authentically.
Kelly has been married to her high school sweetheart, Jon Miller, for over 20 years and they have three children: Klarissa, Kaiya, and Jackson, who all share her passion for Jesus, music, and Italian food.
